A
play in its prime
The
lights cryptically shone down on the mysteriously dominant figure as we
sat mesmerised by her words and actions, ironically though it wasnt
one of our teachers speaking to us, and it was in fact the infamous Jean
Brodie. Accompanied by our
own teachers, a mixture of higher English pupils braved the cold and
visited the Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, to see Muriel Sparks classic
novel The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie on stage.
We arrived with great expectations, after all the play had been
giving excellent reviews in recent newspapers, and we left more than
fulfilled. The role of Miss
Jean Brodie was played by none other than Janice from Holby City and was
conveyed in such manner that had the whole audience captivated with
every move. The atmosphere
was electric as the play built up to its grand finale, but for us it was
over too soon. We all left
the Lyceum in laughter and with a great insight into the novel, but for
some of us the end really did come to soon as we all knew that the only
thing left was the Thursday morning NAB!
