Certain pupils are entitled to Special Exam
Arrangements if they have a specific
learning difficulty which prevents them from demonstrating their true
level of ability in exams. These
arrangements can only be put in place if there is clear evidence of a
specific learning difficulty and arrangements must be verified by the
Educational Psychologist. There are very strict criteria, laid down by the Scottish
Qualifications Authority, about eligibility for special arrangements.
These special arrangements range from extra time for an exam, use
of a reader and/or scribe, referral to the Chief Examiner for pupils with
spelling difficulties, use of a word processor or transcription of an exam
paper before it is sent away to be marked.
Please contact the Learning Support Department if you
want to discuss this further.
